This 4-week course is specifically for professionals, therapists, doctors, nurses, hospital staff, Pastors, Chaplains etc. We will be addressing the client/s that needs someone to walk beside them on their Gender affirmation journey. Sometimes surgery is necessary to align an individual with their body and sometimes it is not. Gender Affirmation in all of its aspects is a huge emotional, psychological, and sometimes physical undertaking for someone.

To navigate these waters alone can be a struggle. Together we will deepen our knowledge of how culture, socioeconomics, religion, and integration effect the Physical, Emotional, and Mental Health of the Transgender client. You will gain insight into the use of appropriate language, compassionate actions, and allied support.

WEEK ONE: THE BODY

Identify the different genders of bodies and historical truths. Learn about the surgical options that are available for those choosing this path.

WEEK TWO: THE MIND

Understanding how socioeconomics, culture, and race affect surgical options. Gain insight into the psyche of surgery, what happens when it is postponed, denied, and the impact of complications.

WEEK THREE: THE SPIRIT

Acquire an in-depth understanding of the roles that religion and spirituality play in the decision to have or not have surgery and the impact it may have on the psycho emotional self, the psycho Spiritual self, and the ways it can impact and shift the surgical process.

WEEK FOUR: THE INTEGRATED SELF

Gain the necessary skills to confidently encourage and support your client through the emotional and mental depths of the surgical process. Recognize how utilizing resilience factors into the transformational journey toward the life your client imagines and are creating for themselves.
